An Evening with Margaret Renkl
Date: Thursday, October 23, 2025
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Legacy Hall
Margaret Renkl, an award-winning author and contributing opinion writer for The New York Times, will speak at Legacy Hall on the West Texas A&M University campus on October 23rd, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
Margaret Renkl’s talk will inspire and challenge listeners. In her book, Late Migrations, she writes about seasons of grief and joy that we all experience throughout life, and she weaves in connected stories from the natural world. In this talk, Renkl’s stories will prompt listeners to reflect on their own experiences with nature and with others. Margaret Renkl will also talk about collaborating with her brother, Billy Renkl, who created gorgeous covers and full-page colored collages for the chapters in her books. Ms. Renkl’s talk will motivate listeners to recognize beauty in their daily lives and inspire them to take steps to support the flora and fauna in their own backyard. When environmental issues seem daunting, she shares how we can all do something.
This evening promises to be one of inspiration, reflection, and meaningful conversation. Whether you’re a lover of literature, a student of the natural world, or simply someone seeking a quiet moment of connection in a busy world — this event is for you.
Burrowing Owl Books will host a book-signing following the talk. For every preordered book through Burrowing Owl, $2 will be donated to Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Amarillo.
Read more about Margaret, her books and talks on her author bio page.
