Professional Profile
Dr. Brigette Whaley is an Associate Professor of Education in the College of Education and Social Sciences at West Texas A&M University. She joined the university in 2016 after an 18-year career in public education. Dr. Whaley earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University and both an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her work is dedicated to preparing educators and leaders to strengthen teaching, learning, and school practice through thoughtful instruction, purposeful use of technology, and research that informs educational decision making.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Whaley teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in applying cognitive science to learning and teaching, educational technology, curriculum theory and analysis, instructional design, and educational leadership. Her teaching emphasizes the connection between theory and practice, with a focus on helping pre-service teachers and graduate students design effective instruction, analyze curriculum critically, and use technology in ways that support meaningful learning. She also contributes to educator preparation through field-based experiences, student support, and service connected to teacher development and school improvement.
