Professional Profile
Dr. Miller joined the department in 2024. She earned a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2024, a Master of Science in Social Work from WTAMU in 2018, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from WTAMU in 2013. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Supervisor designation and a Board Certified Music Therapist.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Miller teaches primarily in the graduate social work program focusing on direct practice, social policy, and the science of social work. She also serves as a supplemental supervisor for field courses. Dr. Miller's areas of focus are clinical social work, curriculum and pedagogy, and theories of human behavior and social functioning. She is involved in several local organizations aimed at improving the community and profession of social work.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Miller has published research on the impact of trauma and marginalization in the public school system. Her research interests focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning, specifically in creating innovative curriculum and pedagogical strategies for adult learners and centering marginalized voices in education. Dr. Miller has presented her work on ADEI in Social Work Education at the University of Alabama’s National Conference on DSW Education and Social Work.
