Professional Profile

Dr. Namias joined the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work in the Fall of 2025. He earned his B.A. degree in Psychology in 2020, followed by his MA and PhD in Psychology in 2022 and 2025, respectively, all from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Namias teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the psychology program, with an emphasis on cognitive psychology. His course offerings include Experimental Psychology, Psychology of Learning, and Advanced Statistics.

Dr. Namias is a member of the Psychonomic Society, the preeminent organization for the experimental study of cognition. As part of his scholarly engagement, Dr. Namias regularly attends the Society’s annual meetings, where he presents research and exchanges ideas with leading cognitive scientists from around the world.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Namias has published research exploring the interaction between memory and attentional control, with a particular emphasis on strategies that enhance memory retention. His work examines the cognitive benefits of techniques such as drawing during study, which have shown promise in improving recall and minimizing false memory illusions. Dr. Namias aims to advance theoretical understanding of encoding and retrieval processes while identifying practical, evidence-based strategies that support learning and cognitive performance in real-world settings.
