Professional Profile

Dr. Kunz is a professor of sociology at West Texas A&M University where she has taught since 1993.  She received her B.S. in Spanish and sociology, her M.S. in sociology, and her Ph.D. in sociology with an emphasis on family and stratification, all from Brigham Young University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Kunz regularly teaches Introduction to Sociology, Racial and Ethnic Minorities, Contemporary Families, Sociology of Gender, Statistics for the Social Sciences, and Research Methods. She is a member of the honors and graduate faculty at WTAMU.

Dr. Kunz has received numerous awards for teaching and has been an international visiting professor several times at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada for the Department of Sociology. She is a member of several national and international associations and has held several offices.  

Dr. Kunz has also served as a consultant and facilitator for various governmental and independent agencies.  She is actively involved in the community and mentoring.  She was a co-facilitator of the Pantex Plant Citizens' Advisory Board (PPCAB) for five years.  

Research and Creative Activity 

Dr. Kunz is involved in many ongoing research projects with students.  

She has made several scholarly presentations on the national and international level and her many articles and publications have appeared in numerous academic journals and books.  She is the author of several books and monographs.

Her areas of specialization include family, stratification, and organizations. She has a special interest in the effects of divorce on children.
