Delta Delta Chapter
West Texas A&M University chartered the Delta Delta chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International (STTI) in March, 1980. STTI is the only international nursing honor society and the largest nursing professional organization in the world. Founded in 1922 by six nursing students at the Indiana University Training School for nurses, STTI's mission is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. The founders chose the name from the Greek words Storgé, Tharsos and Timé meaning "love," "courage" and "honor." Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
