Professional Profile
Dr. Correa is the Baptist Community Services Endowed Professor. Dr. Correa joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2012. Dr. Correa received her Ph.D. from The University of New Mexico in 2020, her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Nursing from West Texas A&M University in 2012, and an A.D. in Nursing from Garden City Community College in 1999.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Correa is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, the American Public Health Association, the Latino Caucus for Public Health, and the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators. Dr. Correa has a passion to mentor new faculty and students in research and teaching activities.
Dr. Correa has taught in pre-licensure, RN-BSN, and Graduate nursing courses. Dr. Correa is an active member of the advising team as an advisor for new student orientation.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Correa’s specialization is in community and population health, as well as public health. Her research has focused on community/population health in areas of teaching, policy, and faculty development. Her focus has also been on health promotion and the impact of chronic illness on family structure, as well as health disparities in various populations.
