Professional Profile

My name is Austin A. Wiseman, and I am a Registered Nurse with 11 years of experience in the field. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in May 2013 and my Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in nursing education (MSN) from the same institution in December 2017. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching various nursing courses across both the Fall and Spring semesters, including Nursing Concepts, Pharmacology, Health Assessment, and Pathophysiology. For the past three years, I have also taught a Summer I Nursing Skills course.

Teaching is my passion, and I am deeply committed to contributing to the educational journey of nursing students. It is an honor to play even a small role in shaping the future of healthcare through my students' success. I am currently on track to graduate with my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi in December 2025. Additionally, I am in the process of becoming a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) RN, furthering my commitment to providing

Teaching and Related Service

I have been teaching since January 2018 and currently serve as the Junior 1 Level Leader, where I am responsible for both classroom and clinical instruction. In 2021, I earned my Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certificate, followed by my Clinical Teaching Certificate in 2022. I also act as the Clinical Liaison between WTAMU's nursing program and Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTH), fostering strong connections between the academic and clinical settings.

My responsibilities include developing exams, quizzes, and blueprints, as well as performing reports and scheduling meetings. I provide individualized support to students through one-on-one meetings and maintain an open-door policy for any questions they may have. Additionally, I collaborate with colleagues on various research projects and initiatives aimed at advancing our program. As a CPR instructor, I am committed to ensuring that our students are well-prepared for emergency situations.

I am an active member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Nurses Association (TNA), the American Nurses Association (ANA), the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), the National League for Nursing (NLN), and Sigma Theta Tau (Delta Delta Chapter).

Research and Creative Activity:

My Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project will focus on developing a comprehensive orientation program for newly hired nursing faculty. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the onboarding process, thereby improving retention rates and ensuring long-term commitment from new faculty members.
