Professional Profile

Dr. Devkota is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. He is a highly accomplished clinician and nurse educator with 17 years of nursing experience and 15 years of teaching in academic and clinical settings. His clinical background includes extensive work in critical care, including Cardiac, Medical, and Surgical Intensive Care Units. Currently, Dr. Devkota serves as an Assistant Professor, teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, where he is dedicated to developing future nurse leaders through evidence-based instruction and mentorship. He also serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Student Medical Services, where he provides comprehensive primary care to a diverse college student population with a focus on preventive health, chronic disease management, and mental health support.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Devkota has served as a faculty and clinical instructor in the Department of Nursing at West Texas A&M University since 2011. He has taught a wide range of courses, including Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing with Critical Care concepts, Leadership and Management, and Pharmacotherapeutics and Primary Care. He has also been instrumental for students in NCLEX preparation, developing academic coaching and remediation strategies for student success. In addition to teaching, he has contributed significantly to institutional service through active participation in numerous departmental committees, including curriculum development, scholarly works, and student support. His dedication to education has been recognized with multiple teaching excellence awards, including several recognitions to Mortar Board Apple Polishing and Panhandle Great 25 Nurses.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Devkota has a strong record of scholarly contributions centered on nursing education, student success, and clinical practice. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles exploring topics such as the lived experiences of nursing students, NCLEX-RN success, and innovative clinical learning models. His recent work includes leading a quality improvement initiative to increase influenza vaccination rates and developing customized educational modules for preceptor training, both of which have been presented at regional and university research conferences. Actively engaged in ongoing research, Dr. Devkota remains committed to advancing evidence-based practice and promoting academic inquiry across both clinical and educational environments.
