West Texas A&M University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges or SACSCOC, a regional agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. This is the highest accreditation a university can receive and signifies that WTAMU has "a purpose appropriate to higher education and the resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that purpose."

The WTAMU Professional Nursing Education Program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master's degree program in nursing, and the post-graduate APRN certificate program in nursing at WTAMU are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org) through December, 2029.
