Professional Profile

Mr. Spencer joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2015. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Communication Disorders from West Texas A&M University in 2000 and 2003 respectively. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science with an emphasis in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Mr. Spencer remains a member of ASHA and the Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders Special Interest Group. He holds licensure to practice in the State of Texas and maintains certifications as a Dementia Practitioner and Montessori Dementia Care Professional from the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.

Teaching and Related Service

Mr. Spencer teaches courses in aphasia, dementia, traumatic brain injury, and research principles. He also provides clinical instruction for students in the Communication Disorders' Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Personal Sketch

Mr. Spencer lives in nearby Amarillo with his wife, Kristin, and their two school-age children, Rylan and Jordan. He enjoys volunteering with his local church during worship services, working in the yard, and spending time with his family.
