Professional Profile

Mrs. Marcear joined the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences in the fall of 2019.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Abilene Christian University, and her Master’s Degree from California State University, Chico.

Teaching and Related Service

Mrs. Marcear currently teaches coursework in clinical observation, assessment, clinical practicum, and speech sound disorders. In addition, she supervises graduate students at the WTAMU Speech & Hearing Clinic.  Mrs. Marcear’s role as Clinical Coordinator allows her to work closely with the university’s affiliate facilities and graduate students, to ensure that student’s clinical practicum requirements are met.

Mrs. Marcear has over 30 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist, having worked in both hospital and public school settings.  She is a Texas licensed speech-language pathologist and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association (ASHA).

Research and Creative Activity

Mrs. Marcear has served on committees for the Texas Speech-Language and Hearing Association (TSHA) and written for the TSHA publication, The Communicologist, as well as presented at the TSHA state convention.  She was awarded Honors of the Association by the Panhandle Speech-Language and Hearing Association and is a graduate of ASHA’s Leadership Development Program.

Mrs. Marcear’s professional interests include assessment and speech sound disorders and clinical education.
