Professional Profile
Dr. Opat joined the Department of Agricultural Sciences in 2025. She received her B.S. in Agricultural Communication (’13) and Ph.D. in Agricultural Communications and Education (’20) from Texas Tech University. She received her master’s in business law (’15) from Friends University.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Opat teaches visual storytelling for the agricultural sciences, communicating agriculture to the public, and web content development for the agricultural sciences. She has authored several publications and made numerous presentations at regional and national conferences. Dr. Opat is a member of the American Association of Agricultural Education (AAAE).
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Opat’s research interests include crisis communication, science communication, storytelling, and mixed methods research.
