Bachelor of Science B.S. Degree

Majors in agriculture include University core requirements, department core requirements, agricultural science core requirements, and major requirements specified under each degree option and total 120 semester credit hours. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) for all courses at WTAMU counted toward the degree.  At least 36 semester hours of credit must be earned from upper-level (3000- and 4000-level) courses.

Select BIOL 1413 or 1411, CHEM 1405 or 1411, MATH 1314, ENGL 1302, AGRI 2300, and ECON 2301 to satisfy core curriculum requirements.

Agricultural Business Core (18 hours)

  • ACCT 2301 - Principles of Financial Accounting

  • BUSI 3312 - Business Law 
  • AGBE 3301 - Farm and Ranch Management 
  • AGBE 3302 - Marketing of Agricultural Products 
  • AGBE 3320 - Quantitative Analysis in Agricultural and Environmental Economics 

Major Requirements (39-40 hours)

Take four courses from: AGRI 1329, ANSC prefix, PSES prefix (12-13 hours)

Take nine courses from:

  • AGBE 3303 - Professional Agricultural Sales and Services 
  • AGBE 3304 - Agricultural Business Management 
  • AGBE 4301 - Advanced Farm and Ranch Management 
  • AGBE 4306 - International Agricultural Trade and Markets 
  • AGBE 4310 - Agricultural Policy and Trade 
  • AGBE 4312 - Agricultural Marketing Analysis
     
  • AGBE 4313 - Agricultural Finance  or
  • FIN 3320 - Business Finance 

  • AGBE 4328 - Futures and Options 
  • AGBE 4355 - Environmental and Natural Resource Economics  (crosslisted with ECON 4355)
  • AGBE 4365 - Advanced Agribusiness Management 
  • AGBE 4098 - Management Training in Agribusiness 1-6 (3 hours)

Bachelor of Science Requirements (6 hours)

Six hours chosen from biology, chemistry, geology, geosciences, mathematics, physics and natural sciences. (MATH 1325 Mathematics for Business and Economics II is PREFERRED) (extra lab hours move to electives)
