West Texas A&M University requires submission of official transcripts from all previously attended, or currently attending, colleges and universities. This includes dual credit coursework during high school, community colleges, trade/vocational schools, military training, foreign institutions, undergraduate and graduate coursework, and any institutions that were attended where a degree was not received or where college credit was attempted but not earned. Currently enrolled or former WTAMU students do not need to request their WTAMU transcript.
An official transcript is one that has been officially issued by an institution and received at the Graduate School directly from that institution. Students are required to submit official transcripts from each college or university previously attended or currently attending, regardless of degree sought or completion of credit. Transfer credits indicated on another school’s transcript are not accepted in lieu of submitting the original institution record for that coursework. Transcripts submitted directly from students or through an unsecured delivery method (i.e. fax or unsecured email) will not be accepted as official. Copies or other versions available through third-party records or websites are also unacceptable.
PLEASE NOTE: All materials submitted in support of an application become the property of the Graduate School and will not be returned to the applicant or forwarded to other schools or agencies. Additionally, transcripts will not be copied for applicants or students.
Requesting Transcripts from Institutions in the United States
- Electronic transcripts must be sent through a secured, third-party service directly to WT Graduate School from the issuing institution (excludes foreign transcripts).
- Examples of electronic transcript services include Speede, Parchment, Credentials Inc., eScrip-Safe, and National Student Clearinghouse, amongst others.
- These services can send the transcripts electronically to graduateschool@wtamu.edu or West Texas A&M University Admissions.
- WT Graduate School cannot accept electronic transcripts directly from an applicant
- Printed transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to WT Graduate School or delivered in a sealed envelope from the institution.
- Unopened documents may be forwarded by mail in the original sealed envelope to Graduate School, WTAMU Box 60215, Canyon, TX 79016
- Official documents in sealed envelopes can also be delivered in person directly to the WT Graduate School for processing.
- Military transcripts are official documents that list military training and work history completed while in service.
- Coursework in progress: students who are currently pursuing coursework can temporarily send an unofficial transcript to graduateschool@wtamu.edu for review purposes only. An official transcript must be requested once all coursework is finalized and/or the degree is notated. Full admission cannot be granted until all official, finalized transcripts are received by the Graduate School.
Requesting Transcripts from Institutions outside the United States
An official Foreign Credential Evaluation Report must accompany each international transcript or mark sheet. A Foreign Credential Evaluation is a review of your academic documents (transcripts, graduate certificates, exit exam, scores, etc.) to provide U.S. equivalency. Your grade point average (GPA) will also be converted to a 4.0 point scale.
Applicants must select one of the university-approved agencies listed on the Foreign Credential Evaluation Services page and visit their website for more information. Each evaluation agency has a separate process for completing an evaluation.
- PLEASE NOTE: The name of required report is listed under each agency on that page. Official reports must be sent to WT Graduate School directly from the evaluation agency through a secure, electronic method or in a sealed envelope through physical mail. If an official report does not include your transcripts or mark sheets, please be sure to provide those additional documents to graduateschool@wtamu.edu. They should be a comprehensive record of all international study completed, detailing courses studied and the grades (marks) received, in the form of a transcript or yearly grade (mark) sheets.
Applicants and students with coursework from foreign institutions where original documents cannot be produced or reproduced must contact the Graduate School directly. The Graduate School will work to verify constraints at those institutions in those countries in order to offer alternatives to this requirement. Only applicants and students making formal arrangements with the Graduate School due to extenuating circumstances may exercise this option.
International applicants should visit the
International Student Services webpage for more comprehensive information on their admission process and requirements.
