Application and Admission Steps
The Graduate School is committed to promoting graduate study at West Texas A&M University. Our Graduate School academic advisors serve as liaisons for all prospective graduate students. We are happy to assist you with any questions that you may have.

Updates

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information: Graduate School is closely monitoring the current coronavirus pandemic. Our admission process is proceeding normally. We remain committed to you and your choice to apply to West Texas A&M University.

Prepare

Some admission requirements apply to all graduate applicants, but often, there are program specific requirements that you must also submit. Please take time to review the program’s admission requirements and deadlines before you begin the application process.

For International applicants:

Apply

Graduate students who want to apply to WTAMU and take advantage of the waived application fee, should apply before July 31, 2021.

Your first step is to submit your online graduate school application using the new WTAMU Applicant Portal. Next, you will need to send in your application materials to complete your admissions package.

After submitting your application, you can check the status of your application by visiting the Returning User Login page.

Submit the Graduate School Application  

First, you should complete and submit your application using the new WTAMU Applicant Portal

  • Applications for graduate admissions require a non-refundable application fee ($55)
  • Applications for International admissions require a non-refundable application fee ($90)

Current or Former WT Students

  • To apply for Graduate School, you will need to register for our new WTAMU Applicant Portal as a new user (if your last WT application was submitted before spring 2021).
  • Note: Your credentials to access the Applicant Portal are not the same as the login and password you use for Buff Advisor.

Decision

After you have submitted your graduate school application, you will receive an acknowledgement email with your Buffalo Gold Card Number. This number will serve as your student identification number. You will receive both email and letter correspondence detailing any missing documentation required to complete your application.

After you have submitted all of your admissions documents, we will send your application to the program for review. Please await your admissions decision, but feel free to check your application status with us. For most programs, the wait time after your application is submitted for review is approximately three weeks, but this can vary depending on the program.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding the application process, want to inquire about outstanding application materials, or you would like to receive an update of your application status, you can contact us.

NOTE: Applicants applying for the 2021 academic year, may log in to the WTAMU Applicant Portal for regular updates to your admissions status and to upload missing documents.

Application Fee Waived

Graduate students who want to apply to WTAMU and take advantage of the waived application fee, should apply before July 31, 2021. Please use the WTAMU Graduate School Application and select “fee waiver” for your payment type.

 Family Scholarship Program

We want to honor and thank families sending multiple family members to West Texas A&M University. To do this, we are providing a scholarship to families who have more than two members from the same household attending WTAMU at the same time.

The third tuition of equal or lesser value will be given as a scholarship which will be divided equally between each of the three family members. A family will be defined by the Admissions Office and the Financial Aid Office. For more information, visit:

Federal Need-Based Aid

WT graduate students may also be eligible to receive federal need-based aid and are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To see if you qualify, visit: https://www.wtamu.edu/student-support/financial-fafsa.aspx.
