Professional Profile

Dr. Blaser joined the Department of Agricultural Sciences in 2009. A native of Rexburg, Idaho, he received an associates degree in crops and soil science from Ricks College in 2000 and completed a B.S. in agronomy from Brigham Young University in 2002. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in crop production and physiology from Iowa State University in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

Dr. Blaser is a member of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA).

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Blaser teaches principles of plant science, a core course for all agriculture majors, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in crop physiology, plant breeding, and other agronomy related courses.  He also advises the Farm & Ranch Club and coaches the Crops Judging Team.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Blaser’s research interests are in field crop production, physiology, ecology, and systems. He has a great interest in international agriculture and appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with the Dryland Agriculture Institute at WTAMU because of its combined emphasis on dryland crop production and international outreach.
