Welcome to Electrical Engineering at West Texas A&M University!

Electrical engineering is primarily focused on electric power and energy systems. The program was first formed as a result of an increased demand for electrical engineers in the Texas Panhandle.

This is an exciting time to become an electrical engineer, as there are many opportunities to support a sustainable future. Amarillo, TX is recognized as one of America’s most windiest cities, thus, wind farms for power generation are booming. Largest utility companies in the U.S., like Xcel Energy, recently announced their goal to provide 80% carbon emission reduction by year 2035, and deliver 100% clean, carbon-free electricity by year 2050 proving that it’s an exciting time to be an electrical engineer and support sustainable future.
