Civil Engineering Undergraduate Curriculum

You may contact the Civil Engineering Faculty or the College of Engineering for specific degree requirements corresponding to a particular catalog year. The civil engineering curriculum leading to a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering requires 126 hours (and includes at least 39 advanced hours) and is organized into the required courses, math and science electives, engineering courses focusing on civil engineering, and other electives. 

To be able to complete the bachelor’s degree successfully, you should meet certain pre-requisites before beginning the civil engineering program. A variety of pre-engineering courses and resources are available to assist you in this regard. The following are some of the significant pre-requisite that a prospective civil engineering student is expected to have:

  • Use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
