Professional Profile
Dr. Allen joined the College of Engineering in 2024. He received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from West Texas A&M University in 2015 (Mechanical), 2019 (Engineering) and 2024 (Agriculture), respectively.
Teaching and Related Service
Dr. Benton Allen teaches primarily in the areas of product design, advanced manufacturing, and systems engineering. His teaching style emphasizes hands-on learning and creative problem-solving, guiding students through courses in engineering fundamentals, CAD/CAM, and product development.
He serves as the faculty advisor for WT Racing, a newly established student-led organization designing and building the first WTAMU Formula SAE vehicle. Dr. Allen is also co-author of the children’s book How to be an Engineer and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineers. Through classroom teaching, student organizations, and regional outreach efforts, he works to expand opportunities and interest in STEM for students across the region.
Research and Creative Activity
Dr. Allen’s research explores advanced manufacturing, materials science, and agricultural systems. He is a co-founder of BTG Products, a company that has developed multiple products in the antimicrobial space. His work often focuses on leveraging cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions to serve regional industries in the Texas Panhandle and beyond.
