Advising and Registration Information

Step #1) Contact your advisor or advising services for greenlighting.

Step #2) Sign up for classes. Instructions can be found here. 

Please check the university calendar or with the registrar to determine registration dates/availability. 

Students are greenlighted by their advisor or by advising services. 

You cannot register for classes until you have been greenlighted. 

The process for greenlighting varies from advisor-to-advisor. If you have questions, please reach out to your advisor or advising services. 

Upon entering the university, you will receive initial advising through advising services. 

The primary EMA advisors in advising services are Ms. Cynthia Massoud and Dr. Dave Rausch.

After your initial advising, you will have a program advisor who will serve as your primary contact. EMA assigns advisees based on last names as follows:

A-L are assigned to Professor Melissa Henderson 

M-Z are assigned to Dr. Justin Moeller 

You may continue to contact advising services for general advising; however, it is usually best to work with your program advisor.

Please e-mail your program advisor to schedule an appointment. We strongly suggest e-mailing to arrange an appointment. While you are certainly welcome to call our offices, office hours during breaks and over the summer are limited.

Most EMA students work full-time and enroll in between 2-4 courses per semester. This equates to 6-12 credits in most cases.

The program considers 2 courses full-time.

[Note] Some financial aid programs require students to enroll in 12 credits per semester to maintain eligibility. 

You can view your current degree progress (which includes a summary of the courses you need to complete to graduate) through student planning.

You can also view the degree checklist(s) for the EMA major. 

Degree checklists can be found here. Be sure to view the correct year, as degree requirements and options can change. 

For EMA courses, you should contact the instructor and ask (politely) to be added to the course. In most cases, we are happy to sign you up or find an alternative course.

For non-EMA courses, you should add yourself to the waitlist. While you can certainly ask the instructor (again, politely) to add you to the course, faculty are under no obligation to add students to full courses.

Please do not rely on the scheduling information found in student planning for future semesters. 

You graduate when you meet your degree requirements.

Specifically, this means that you need to complete the (1) general education core curriculum, (2) EMA degree requirements, and (3) EMA Electives Requirement or BAAS Block.

You must earn a total of 120 credits to graduate.

When you are ready to graduate, you must apply for graduation.

After you submit your application, you will receive a graduation letter from the college outlining the next steps.

The WT Business Office offers a variety of ways to pay, including setting up a payment plan.

There are a variety of ways to lower your cost of attendance.

#1) Complete core curriculum courses and needed general electives at your local community college.

#2) Explorer lower cost WT options, including Education on Demand and Summer courses.

#3) Apply for financial aid and scholarships. Both grants and scholarships are available to EMA students. 

#4) If you did not receive the maximum number of BAAS credits in your BAAS block, you may continue to complete professional development and training work that counts towards your degree (up to 42 credits). 

Please visit the financial aid office website for information regarding standard financial aid (grants, loans, etc.). 

Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must complete a scholarship application. The scholarship application can be found here.
