Professional Profile
Nydia Sotelo joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2023. She received her B.A. in Social Work from West Texas A&M University in 2015 and M.S.S.W. in Social Work from West Texas A&M University in 2017.
Teaching and Related Service
Nydia teaches bachelor level courses and is the Field Director for the undergraduate program. Throughout her career, she has provided case management services in mental health and children's and families' well-being through prevention and education programs. Nydia discovered a passion for education during her undergraduate internship, which led her to work with high school students for four years before joining WTAMU. During that time, she helped guide high school students for their post-high school opportunities through college applications, military enlisting, or helping them enter the workforce. Her experience in working with high school students prepared her for her current role in higher education, where she works closely with Social Work Interns and helps them prepare for a career in social services.
