Research has shown, over and over again, that setting goals helps you reach what you’re aiming for. That’s why this Tuesday Tip is about reaching your professional goals.

To identify which goals you are aiming for, it can be helpful to look at your end goal first, and then set smaller goals that will help you reach the larger goal. For example, you might want to graduate with a 4.0 GPA, so your smaller goal is to increase your study time by one hour each week for the semester.

If none of these goals seem to work for you then start by researching skills necessary for your desired industry and then set goals on how you will attain those skills. You could sharpen these skills through a related course, OCPD workshops, LinkedIn Learning, YouTube videos, or career conversations/informational interviews.
