Set Career Goals

Where do I want to be in 5 years? What am I passionate about? What is my purpose? All of these are great questions to get you thinking about what your career goals are. If you have a goal in mind, set small goals to help you achieve your greater goal. Start thinking about internships, informational interviews, networking, job shadows, etc. Each of these opportunities will propel you that much closer to the end goal.

Maybe you are in a position where you are not sure of what to do with your major so goal setting seems impossible. If that is you, shift your focus from what degree you hold to what skills, interests, and strengths you hold. In college, our Career Services staff pursued majors including music, business, theatre, counseling, marketing, and computer information systems. I give you this example to say, your major does not keep you inside of a box. So allow yourself the freedom to break free of that box and take a deeper dive into who YOU are and from there your career goals may be more apparent.
