Empowering School Employees Across the Panhandle
West Texas A&M University is proud to offer the WT Region 16 Excellence Initiative, providing a 50-percent tuition and mandatory fee reduction for all full-time employees and their dependents at all schools within the Region 16 Education Service Center.
This initiative is an extraordinary investment in the future of Texas, demonstrating WT’s commitment to serving the Panhandle and State, by empowering school districts to bring innovation, leadership, and fresh perspectives back to their campuses, classrooms and districts. By investing in our schools and working together, we’re redefining and shaping educational excellence for the entire State.
Key Benefits
- 50-percent tuition reduction on all assessed tuition and mandatory fees
- Available for WT’s 66 undergraduate degrees and 44 graduate degrees, including doctoral degrees in agriculture and education
- Flexible course options, including online and evening classes, to fit your schedule
- Simple application process with support from WT

Available Programs
Students are eligible to use the tuition reduction for one degree at each level (bachelor, master, and doctoral). If a student has already attained a master's degree prior to applying for the Region 16 Excellence Initiative, then the tuition reduction may be used for a single second master's degree. Second bachelor's degrees are not eligible for the tuition reduction.
Students are eligible to use the tuition reduction for specific certificates and/or coursework preparation for licensure or certification. Students are not limited to the number of certificates and/or coursework preparation for licensure of certification.
Please note: Programs and certifications that are already offered at a discounted rate are not eligible for tuition reduction. This includes Panhandle Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE).
Who is Eligible?
Any employee will be verified by their Institution, Region or ISD employment certification individual as full-time employees.
Dependents of any full-time employee will be verified by providing requested information to WT.
Students must maintain good academic standing (2.0 GPA for undergraduate, and 3.0 for graduate students).
How It Works
Eligible employees or dependents must apply for the tuition reduction each academic year. Once approved, the 50-percent reduction will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees, helping educators pursue their academic goals at a fraction of the cost.
