F1 student visa holders are required to notify the Office of Admissions - International of your plans after you graduate. This is ensure accurate maintenance and reporting of your immigration status.
This is also a federal Department of Homeland Security regulation.
60-Day Grace Period
Per the federal Department of Homeland Security regulations, F1 visa holders have 60 days after degree completion to take action on their visa status, regardless of the I-20 end date.
Students who graduate and students who have completed all degree requirements and are therefore eligible to graduate will have their I-20 program end date shortened to reflect the date of actual degree completion. This date is the last day of finals each semester.
