James Webb
Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
James Webb provides executive leadership for the university’s multi-site IT services and systems, driving innovation, security, and digital transformation to advance the institution’s mission. Recognized as a Computerworld Premier 100 Technology Leader for his innovative strategies, he recently completed the Governor’s Executive Development Program and continues to be a trusted leader in higher education technology.
Before joining the university, James built an extensive 14-year career spanning corporate, non-profit, and healthcare IT. This diverse experience informs his ability to balance strategic vision with operational excellence in support of students, faculty, and staff.
James holds both a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems and an M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University. His leadership development includes completion of several nationally ranked executive programs: the Executive Leadership for Information Technology Excellence program at The University of Texas, the Chief Technology Officer Program at Wharton, and the Innovative Technology Leader program at Stanford University.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, James has remained actively engaged in the academic mission of the university since 2011, teaching upper-level courses in the Computer Information and Decision Management department at the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. His unique blend of leadership, innovation, and teaching reflects his commitment to both technology and education.
