Effective July 1, 2020 face-coverings are required in the following areas: lobbies, hallways, restrooms and locker rooms, common spaces, and elevators. Face-coverings will not be required in the Rec Areas.

Phase 1 included the reopening of basketball and racquetball courts by reservation only, the indoor walking/jogging track, and outdoor equipment rentals. We will be adding lap swim, full weight room, spin room, and bowling for Phase 2 . No team activities with groups of more than four will be allowed.

Due to COVID-19, we will be implementing facility tracking and physical distancing measures.

Members are required to register for a timeslot. Upon arrival at the facility, please report to the front desk to allow staff to check you in. Then use your card to enter the facility.

Recreational Opportunities

The Virgil Henson Activities Center (VHAC) provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for students, faculty and staff, families and community members. The facility includes a recreational pool, weight room, bowling center, racquetball courts (including a wallyball court), an all-purpose gymnasium, game room, TV lounge, other all-purpose rooms.

VHAC Facilities

Recreational Pool — Bring the kids for a day at the recreation pool equipped with a water slide, lazy river and vortex pool.

Weight Room — With a variety of equipment, keep the whole family in shape with something for everyone. There are locker rooms for men, women, and family changing rooms. 

Bowling Lanes — Make it a date night or game night with buddies in the eight-lane bowling alley, complete with automatic scoring system and the option for lunar bowling.

Climbing Tower — Climbers can give the 40 foot tall climbing tower fashioned after the Light House structure in Palo Duro Canyon a try. The tower has paths for amateurs and experts, so everyone with an adventurous spirit can give it a try. 

All Purpose Room — Runners and walkers will cover lots of ground on the suspended track while enjoying the benefits of being indoors and away from the elements. Basketball teams form quickly, but no need to worry, four regulation-size courts can accommodate up to eight pick-up teams.

Due to COVID -19 capacity restrictions daily passes are currently unavailable.

The general public is welcome to use the Virgil Henson Activities Center by purchasing a daily pass at the VHAC Member Services Desk. Daily passes can be used for the day issued and are non-transferable. All guests are subject to the same VHAC policies and procedures as our members.

All adult guests (16 years or older) MUST have a government issued picture ID in order to use the recreational facilities. All guests are required to sign in at the time of purchase at the VHAC Member Services Desk. Please refer to VHAC’s policies and procedures for more details.
