Professional Profile
Stephen joined the Department of Art, Theatre, and Dance in 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre Performance from WTAMU, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he also taught acting, voice, and movement.
As an Equity actor, Stephen has performed internationally at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in South Australia; professionally with the Nevada Conservatory Theatre, Nevada Theatre Company, and Broadway Sacramento's Music Circus; and locally with Amarillo Little Theatre, Merely Players, and TEXAS Musical Drama. He has worked with such notable actors as Sandy Duncan, Sally Struthers, GW Bailey, Steve Vinovich, James Barbour, Mark Zimmerman, Michael Tylo, and John Schuck. Stephen has directed professionally and served as a fight director/choreographer for a number of theatre, musical theatre, and opera productions. He serves as a critic/clinician for UIL One-Act Play, and a respondent for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival.
Teaching and Related Service
Stephen teaches acting, voice, movement, and stage combat at WT. He specializes in Lessac voice & body training and the Lugering integrated voice, movement, and acting method. Additionally, he teaches Viewpoints, Laban technique, Meisner technique, period styles, acting for the camera, dialects, and stage combat techniques.
Research and Creative Activity
Stephen is a Lessac Practitioner with the Lessac Training & Research Institute ( LTRI) and a Master Teacher for The Expressive Actor, which facilitates the work of Michael Lugering. He is also a member of the Voice & Speech Trainers Association ( VASTA ) and the National Alliance of Acting Teachers ( NAAT ), an associate member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society ( SDC ), and has been a proud member of Actors' Equity Association ( AEA ) since 2007.
