The Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects ascertains the acceptability of proposed research involving human subjects. The IRB process is based on rules and regulations for federally funded research, primarily the provisions of Protection of Human Subject in the Code of Federal Regulations (45 CFR 46), and supporting materials such as the Belmont Report. The Vice President of Research and Compliance (VPRC) selects the committee membership and chair. The VPRC reports to the WTAMU president on all matters relating to Research and Compliance. Members shall serve three-year terms and there are no limitations on the number of terms a person may serve.
