Junior Scholars

Through the Junior Scholars program, Panhandle AHEC provides health career presentations and distributes the Health Occupations in Texas (H.O.T.) Jobs directory to high schools students to enhance their interest in becoming future healthcare professionals.

The Health Opportunities in Texas (H.O.T.) Jobs directory lists a variety of health occupations, education needed to go into particular fields, potential salary information, and much more!  Information in the directory is useful for high school and college students, academic and career counselors, as well as the general public.

Directories can be ordered and provided to you at no cost - contact us to order.  In addition to the physical booklet, you can also visit the Texas Health Opportunities in Texas (H.O.T.) Jobs website at http://www.texashotjobs.org.

Panhandle AHEC also partners with established rural high school health science programs to provide hands-on training equipment that students can use to practice the skills they have learned. Upon completion of their health science programs and necessary testing, students can graduate high school with Industry-Based certifications as either a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and/or Patient Care Tech (PCT).
