Advanced Clinical Practicum

The Advanced Clinical Practicum program offers direct clinical experience and supervision in individual, group, and couples therapy, outreach and prevention activities, crisis intervention, and college student development. This program works to provide a rich, varied, and challenging site for trainees to develop as professional practitioners and consultants to the University and local community.

Position Description

The Advanced Practicum program is designed to offer graduate students in the areas of Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or Counselor Education an opportunity to obtain quality training and supervision in the delivery of clinical services and outreach programming. Additionally, it is designed to support the development of professional skills and identity.

Our client population includes a wide range of diagnostic diversity and offers a challenge to the developing clinician. We balance this challenge with an approach to training that is developmental, encouraging, and collaborative. At the completion of training, trainees should be able to provide quality services of his/her relevant professional association (e.g., APA, ACA, NASW).

Job Duties

16-20 hours per week to include:

  • 8-12 hours of Direct Services (individual sessions, intakes, couples sessions, and possibly group sessions for trainees who decide on a 20 hour/week position).
  • 1 hour of Individual Clinical Supervision
  • 2 hours weekly Group Supervision each Friday 9-11 AM
    • Note: Applicant must be able to attend this meeting to be eligible for the Advanced Practicum Program.

Position Requirements

  • Graduate Students in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology programs.
  • Demonstrated Interest and experience in a clinical setting. Experience in delivery of outreach or prevention programming preferred. Experience in process or psycho-educational group is helpful.
  • Preferred Qualification: Coursework or enrollment in Theories of Counseling.
