Appointment Information

All appointments can be made by coming to the office of Student Counseling Services (SCS) in the Student Success Center, CC 116 or by calling our office at 806.651.2340.  All appointments are confidential and provided at no charge to currently enrolled students.  We see students with a wide range of issues from stress, adjustment to college, relationship issues, and more serious concerns such as depression, anxiety, and trauma.  Most students can be helped in fewer than 8 sessions.

Your Initial Triage Session

Your initial triage session is a brief, 20-30 minute appointment to establish contact with you, determine your reasons for coming in, and develop a plan of action to address those presenting issues. The therapist you see during your triage session may or may not be the therapist you see in follow up sessions.Triage sessions are available on a walk-in basis all day on Thursdays or can be scheduled within a few days, depending on our current case load. It is important that you arrive promptly for your triage session in order to allow sufficient time to complete the necessary intake forms.

Please note, if you are in need of immediate help, inform our staff so that we can connect you to the appropriate crisis resources immediately.

About Your Therapist

All therapists are licensed by the State of Texas in their appropriate field: Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselor Interns, and Provisionally Licensed Psychologist Trainee.  Our office is also a teaching environment which works closely with the departments of Psychology, Social Work, and Counseling Education.  Therefore the therapist you see may be a master's level practicum student.
