Make a difference

Join a unified team dedicated to strengthening the capacity and resilience of rural and under-resourced communities across the Texas Panhandle. As a CRC Fellow, you serve as the "service engine" of the Community Resilience Cooperative (CRC), providing the direct service and human capital necessary to build stronger, more connected organizations.

What Fellows Do

Direct Service  

Work directly with community partners on meaningful projects. Examples include:

  • Deliver vital programs that ensure residents have access to nutrition and support services
  • Provide resources for foster families and former foster youth
  • Support educational programs related to wildlife, science, art, and environmental conservation
  • Maintain trails and land for public use
  • Provide English as a Second Language (ESL) or immigration support
  • Help marginalized communities connect with educational resources and pathways to success
  • Supporting individual and public health initiatives

Capacity Building  

Support organizational capacity building and infrastructure development. Examples include:

  • Assist in creating and implementing communication plans and community outreach
  • Engage in mentoring and professional development to build the skills necessary for systems change
  • Provide operational support
  • Support volunteer engagement, training, and ongoing communication efforts
  • Provide technical assistance such as data tracking, reporting, and evaluation for organizations with the metrics needed to demonstrate impact

Civic Engagement  

Contribute to professional networks and build lasting community impact. Examples include:

  • Collaborate with community organizations across the Texas Panhandle
  • Participate in cooperative efforts to help communities prepare for regional crises and manage land and resources sustainably
  • Support events and programming to engage people in their community through volunteerism

FELLOW BENEFITS

Get paid to serve

Fellows are paid a monthly stipend for their service. Amount varies on commitment, slot type, term length, and the program's grant funding.

Professional Growth

Hands-on experiences and trainings help Fellows who are exploring new skill development or career options. Service is also a networking opportunity for Fellows to meet active community members and professionals in their field of interest. 

Eligibility Requirements

Fellows must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident 
  • Be 18 years or older by the first day of employment (no upper age limit)
  • Be willing to commit to serving the community for the agreed-upon term
  • Pass criminal history background checks
  • Be located in the local region during time of service
  • For select service sites, Fellows must have completed at least some college
