The Community Resilience Corps (CRC, also known as WT AmeriCorps) serves as a civic intermediary and capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen rural and under-resourced communities across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains.

AmeriCorps represents CRC’s service and community support arm.

Who We Are:

Through our Community Resilience Corps (CRC), a collaborative service program, we connect community members—not just students—with local organizations, fostering opportunities for learning, civic engagement, and meaningful collaboration. Our partnerships enhance resource utilization, build resilience, and contribute to the region’s economic vitality. By deepening connections and expanding critical services, the CRC strengthens community capacity and amplifies the impact of our regional partners.

What We Do:

WT CRC strengthens existing community efforts and fills gaps to address local challenges through locally led solutions. Our program:

Strengthens capacity and infrastructure
Grows civic engagement and workforce readiness
Expands access to resources and closes funding gaps
Supports shared learning and innovative problem-solving
Fosters trusted cross-sector networks to create meaningful collaboration

Our work provides broader access to technical assistance, stronger urban-rural collaboration, and improved health and resilience across systems and populations.

WT CRC serves under-resourced and rural communities across the Texas High Plains. Through our collaborative partnerships, we’re creating a responsive, connected, and resilient regional ecosystem to address current challenges and meet future needs. By growing civic engagement, enhancing collaboration, and promoting cooperation, we are creating immediate and long-term benefits for the Texas Panhandle Plains and surrounding areas.

How We Serve:

We serve by mobilizing resources, facilitating learning, and deepening civic and cross-sector partnerships—building capacity, expanding opportunity, and supporting sustainable, community-driven solutions that strengthen rural and under-resourced communities.

Service between Community Impact Partners and WT CRC Fellows focuses on resource and systems alignment, tailored capacity building and technical assistance, place-based program development and implementation, shared learning and knowledge exchange, skills-building, and improved data systems with community-informed research.

Why We Do It:

The Texas High Plains faces multifaceted challenges that can strain resources and restrict growth and vitality. Gaps in our system make it harder to address these challenges.
