WT Community Welfare and Safety

On April 14, 2020, I issued an email concerning the welfare and safety of the West Texas A&M University community. The notification was based on an immediate health and safety threat due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the University has communicated information, warnings, developments, and updates to students, faculty, and staff regarding our evolving efforts to address pandemic-related risks.

Upon consideration of current COVID-19 levels at WT and within our local communities, as well as the availability of COVID-19 vaccination and treatment options, it appears the immediate health and safety threat has been addressed. We will continue to provide information regarding available preventative options and work in concert with the guidance and response efforts of the federal government, the State of Texas, and local authorities. We will continue to maintain COVID-19 related information on the WTAMU health information page as necessary for the health and safety of our community. Our decisions could change based on evolving circumstances.

For information regarding COVID-19 and updates regarding official university decisions regarding COVID-19, visit the WTAMU health information page. For additional information about COVID-19, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC Travel Health Notice, the World Health Organization, and the Randall County Department of Health.
