Buff Nation Schedule: A Buff Branding and Orientation Event Schedule

For the first time ever, Buff Nation: A Buff Branding and Orientation Event welcomes you into the Buff Family with our new and improved format that is tailored to meet you where you are.  Buff Nation is still scheduled for August 21-22, and we encourage you to participate from campus to experience this event as part of the larger Buff Family.

Tuesday- Thursday (8/18 - 8/20)

  • Check-in at the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership in JBK 103 anytime between 9:00 am & 4:00 pm for your Buff Nation welcome bag and t-shirt.  

 

Friday (8/21)

  • 9-10: To-Do List & Q&A Time
    • Virtual Q&A Session in WT Class featuring: Admissions, The University Bookstore, Business Office, Financial Aid, Residential Living, Scholarship Services, Student Engagement & Leadership, Veteran’s Services, Recreational Sports, Advising Services, Career Services, Counseling Services, Student Disability Services, Educational Services, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Wellness Promotions, The Registrar’s Office, The Cornette Library and The Writing Center.
    • On- Campus Suggested To-Do List Stops
      • Admissions to turn in any last minute documents.
      • The University Bookstore to get your books or any needed supplies.
      • The Buff Gold Card Office to get your student ID.
      • The Business Office for questions about your bill and payments.
      • Financial Aid to ask questions or turn in documents.
      • The Post Office to get your mail box key if living on campus.
      • Residential Living to turn in exemption paperwork or apply for housing.
      • Scholarship Services to turn in any paperwork or ask questions.
      • Student Engagement & Leadership to find out how to get involved or pick up your Buff Nation bag if you did not already get one.
      • Veteran’s Services to turn in any documents or ask questions.
      • Recreational Sports to sign up for any of their programs.
      • Advising Services for questions about your schedule.
      • Career Services to learn about getting a part-time job or Career Coaching.
      • Counseling Services to learn about the programs they offer.
      • Student Disability Services to turn in any documents or ask questions.
      • Educational Services to learn more about testing and free tutoring.
      • The Office of Diversity and Inclusion to learn more about their programs.
      • Health and Wellness Promotions to find out more about their programs.
      • The Registrar’s Office to ask any registration or enrollment questions.
      • The Writing Center to see what services they offer.
      • The Cornette Library to see what they services they offer.
      • Student Enrollment, Engagement, and Success to ask any questions and take a photo at the fun Strengths photo booth.
  • 10:00: College Events 
    • College of Education and Social Sciences
      • COESS will send an e-invite to all of their students to attend a lunch meeting hosted by the college. The invitation will specify the time and location for each student.  This will be an opportunity for students to meet the Dean, interact with faculty, and learn about all of the programs and opportunities available for COESS students.
    • College of Engineering
      • The College of Engineering will host new students on the lawn outside the Engineering Building.
    • Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business
      • The College of Business would like to give our COB Freshmen students an opportunity to get to know their college!  We have created an event on Friday, August 21st from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, which will be outdoors, individualized, but interactive as well.  We will have food trucks, trivia, yoga, contests, scavenger hunts and many other activities where COB students can interact with other Buffs and our own COB faculty!  This is an optional event and students are not required to attend.
    • College of Nursing and Health Sciences
      • The College of Nursing and Health Sciences will host an Academic Showcase from 10:00 am - Noon in the Alumni Banquet Hall.
    • Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences
      • The Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences will be meeting in two locations.  Students with majors in the Departments of Life, Earth, and Environmental Sciences and Chemistry and Physics will meet at the Natural Science Building (NSB) at 10:30 AM for a chance to meet and interact with Faculty/Staff and to participate in small group activities.  Students with majors in the Department of Agricultural Sciences will meet at the Happy State Bank Academic and Research Building (AGS) at 10:30 AM to meet and interact with Faculty/Staff and to participate in group activities.  All students within the College are invited to attend lunch at the AGS at 11:30 AM for the opportunity to pick up their welcome bag and be entered for a chance to win door prizes as we invite you to #JoinUs as a part of our College family!
    • Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities
      • The College of Fine Arts and Humanities will start at 10:00 am with a welcome from the Dean and Department Heads in Mary Moody Northen Hall. Students will break out into their departments for a college tour.  All students will then come back together for lunch on the lawn with our campus radio station KWTS and a fun scavenger hunt.
  • 12-1: Lunch
    • We encourage you to meet a new friend in your Residence Hall or Color Group and go eat lunch on campus or in the community.
  • 1-3: Virtual Small Group Color Session 1
    • Get to know your Peer Leader and new friends!
  • 3-5: Find Your Classroom
    • Use this time to go find your classrooms for the Fall. Student leaders will be spread across campus to help you find your classrooms. 
  • Dinner on Your Own
    • We encourage you to meet a new friend in your Residence Hall or Color Group and go eat dinner on campus or in the community.

 

Saturday (8/22)

  • 1-1:30: Virtual Small Group Color Session 2
    • Start day 2 with your color group and find out what’s in store for the day!
  • 1:30-3:30: Join the Herd (Various Locations)
    • Find your place in the herd.  Explore campus and meet with student orgs.
  • Dinner on Your Own
    • We encourage you to meet a new friend in your Residence Hall or Color Group and go eat dinner on campus or in the community.
  • 9:00-10:00 Drive-In Branding Ceremony
    • The ultimate Buff Branding tradition continues with a new twist!
