All New Student Orientations scheduled for Summer 2020 have moved to a brand new Four Step Process as follows:

Step One:  Complete the Pre-Orientation when registering for NSO

Step Two: Complete the Advising online module

Step Three: Advising Appointment and Registration

Step Four: Attend the mandatory in-person event in August

All steps, including the in-person session, will be required for ALL incoming students. Please visit our NSO FAQ page to learn more.

When is New Student Orientation (NSO)?

Summer 2020 NSO will take place in 4 steps, including a mandatory in-person event in August.

  1. Step 1: Complete the Pre-Orientation Module when Registering for NSO
  2. Step 2: Complete the Online Advising & Registration module
  3. Step 3: Advising & Registration
  4. Step 4: Attend the In Person August Event

Is the August 17-18 NSO cancelled?

All 2 Day NSO events over the summer are moved to the new format, including the August 17-18.  This allows for consistency for all new students.

I was already registered for a summer NSO, what do I need to do now?

If you were already registered for a summer NSO, we have moved your reservation to the August 21-22 session.  Please be checking your email for information about next steps that should be coming out in the next few weeks.

How do I register for NSO?

Can I still attend WT this Fall?

Yes, all admitted students may still attend WT this Fall.  We will be working with you to make sure that all of your questions get answered and you have everything ready to go for your first semester at WT.

Do I need to register now for Orientation or should I wait until later?

We encourage all students to register for Orientation as early as possible.  This allows you more time to take care of all the steps to get registered for classes.

How/When do I register for my classes?

Students will register for classes remotely as part of Step 3 of the orientation.  Students will be able to sign up for an advising appointment once they have completed the Online Advising & Registration module.  Advising appointments will start on April 27, 2020 and will go throughout the summer.

I’m not getting any emails about next steps, what should I do?

Emails are being sent to both the email address you listed on your orientation reservation form and your student email.  If you are not getting the emails, please email Amanda Lawson at to confirm that we have the correct email on file for you.

Is there an orientation fee/How much does Orientation cost?

There is an Orientation fee of $75. The NSO fee is added to the student’s bill at the beginning of the first long semester.

What if the in-person August date doesn’t work for me or there is a special circumstance where I am unable to attend?

All students must attend and complete all components of NSO (online, registration, and in-person event in August).  If you have a special circumstance that does not allow you to complete a part of orientation, please email Amanda Lawson at

Is there an online orientation?

There are online components of NSO which must be completed before registering for classes and attending the in-person component in August. Fully online orientation is only available for transfer students or online only freshmen. If you are an online only freshman, please email Amanda Lawson at

When can I move in?

Likely, move-in day will be the day before our August NSO event. More details to come. 

Do you provide meals?

Yes, we provide all meals during the August component of orientation.

Do parents have to attend?

Parents and family will not attend NSO, but there will be additional resources for them in the near future.

How do I find my Buff ID?

Your Buff ID number is located in your acceptance letter from WT; if not, then contact the Office of Admissions (806-651-2020), and they will be happy to help you.

What documents do you still need from me?

Admissions can tell you if you are missing any documents to complete your admission file.  If you have additional documents like transcripts, shots, test scores, etc., you will need to contact the Office of Admissions (806-651-2020).

Testing/TSI Questions?

Any questions over the TSI Exams can be answered by Educational Services/Testing Services (806-651-2341).
