CANYON, Texas — The arts are in full bloom at West Texas A&M University.

Students and faculty members in WT’s Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts will be featured in a full slate of art exhibitions, concerts and recitals, dance pieces, and theatrical and operatic performances during the 2025-2026 academic year.

“We invite all members of the community to enjoy our College’s fine exhibitions and performances,” said Dr. Dan Patterson, dean. “This thoughtful list of works demonstrates the amazing talents and abilities of our students, faculty and staff.”

Classes begin Aug. 25. Move-In Day is Aug. 21, and Buff Branding, the traditional welcome weekend for new and returning students, is Aug. 21 to 23.

Students and faculty in the School of Music and the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance will be featured in dozens of on-campus events throughout the upcoming academic year.

Jon Revett, art, theatre and dance department head, said his department’s offerings make the University “a center for the arts in the Panhandle.”

“I almost had a heart attack when I put all the 2025-2026 events on to a single list, but I then I realize it was a swelling of pride. Our theatrical performances, dance concerts and art exhibitions are almost entirely student driven and anchored by our faculty. Our program aims to expand the horizons of our students, the University and the greater community by offering a broad selection of artistic excellence.”

Dr. B.J. Brooks, director of the WT School of Music, promises a “spectacular season of performances.”

“We offer unique listening opportunities throughout the year, including the WT Symphony Homecoming Concert, the annual Christmas concerts, and numerous performances by our bands and choirs,” Brooks said. “Join us as we celebrate the talent, creativity, and spirit of the WT School of Music.”

Several events on the arts calendar will be exclusive activities for members of The Arts at WT: A Subscription Series. Memberships are still available.

Fostering an appreciation for the arts and engaging and retaining the best students are key components of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.

That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign’s new goal is to reach $175 million by 2025; currently, it has raised more than $165 million.
