CANYON, Texas — From music to dance, art exhibitions to theatre and opera productions, the arts are alive at West Texas A&M University.

Students and faculty members in WT’s Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts will be featured in a full slate of art exhibitions, concerts and recitals, dance pieces, and theatrical and operatic performances during the 2026-2027 academic year.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the WT upcoming arts season,” said Dr. Dan Peterson, dean of the Harrington College of Fine Arts. “Each of these high-caliber performances features students from across the region and faculty who have local, national and international acclaim. Given the variety of events, there is something for everyone. We welcome all to come be a part of what we are doing with the arts this year. You won’t be disappointed.”

Classes begin Aug. 24. Move-In Day is Aug. 20, and Buff Branding, the traditional welcome weekend for new and returning students, is Aug. 20 to 22.

Students and faculty in the School of Music and the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance will be featured in dozens of on-campus events throughout the upcoming academic year.

“We have an exciting year of art shows, theatre productions and dance performances,” said Jon Revett, professor of art and head of the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance. “The department produces the future generation of artists, performers, designers and dancers, and this year’s roster of events is the perfect example of the high-quality experiences we provide to our students, the University and the greater Panhandle community.”

“We are looking forward to a great season of performances,” said Dr. B.J. Brooks, director of the School of Music and WT’s Prairie Thunder Professor of Band. “This will be a season to remember, and there are performances for every taste in music.”

Several events on the arts calendar will be exclusive activities for members of The Arts at WT: A Subscription Series. Memberships are still available.

Fostering an appreciation for the arts and engaging and retaining the best students are key components of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.

That plan is fueled by the One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which raised more than $200 million dollars, the largest such campaign in Texas Panhandle history.

The schedule, subject to change, includes free and ticketed events:
