Music Technology

The Music Technology program at West Texas A&M is designed to help students develop the fundamental skills needed to engage various career paths such as studio recording, producing, live sound, music and sound design for film or video games, sound installations, or interactive electronic performance.

In the same way as a pianist learns their scales or a horn player develops their embouchure, music technology students must develop fundamental auditory skills that will allow them to harness and master the manipulation of sound in many levels. WT music technology students practice their craft through hands on project-based learning with industry standard equipment as well as a performing ensemble dedicated to the use of electronic instruments and live amplification tools.

The program partners with colleges and departments across campus including physics, media and communications, and engineering, giving students a broad foundation in the science of sound and properties of electronic devices while also offering them the opportunity to tailor their degree to their personal area of interest. Recent graduates have excelled in various fields both locally and nationally including radio and television projection, touring, and live sound production.
