Engler College of Business Announces Professorship Appointment

 

CANYON, Texas—The Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University announces the appointment of Dr. Robert King as the David Wilder Professor of Business.

The David Wilder Professorship was established in 2018 by Friends of the Engler College of Business and the Paul and Virginia Engler Foundation. The professorship recognizes the dedicated service and commitment Wilder provides the business program at West Texas A&M University. The purpose of the professorship is to encourage and reward teaching excellence in support of students in the Texas Panhandle and beyond.

Wilder is a 1965 graduate of West Texas A&M University with a B.B.A. in accounting. Before coming to WT, he graduated with honors from Amarillo High and Amarillo College. Professionally Wilder spent most of his career managing financial records and investments as a banking executive in Plainview. He was recognized by WTAMU with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008 for his professional and philanthropic accomplishments.

Dr. Robert King, assistant professor of marketing, joined the faculty at WTAMU in 2015. He earned a B.B.A. in marketing, M.B.A. and M.S. in finance and economics degrees at West Texas A&M University before completing a Ph.D. in marketing at the University of Mississippi in 2015. King’s teaching and research areas include advertising, strategic marketing and social networks in marketing. His research highlights include journal publications in the International Review on Public and Nonprofit Marketing, Journal of Relationship Marketing, International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Interactive Marketing.

Endowed professorship and chair positions are important to the strategic initiative to recruit and retain faculty members that bring innovative and impactful expertise to the students and community served by West Texas A&M University. The announcement of the Wilder Professor of Business appointment brings the total to 18 endowed professorships in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. The continuing professor appointments are as follows:

• Dr. James Owens—Don Hodges Professor of Corporate Governance;

• Dr. Emily Hammer—Dr. Jerry Miller Professor of Entrepreneurship;

• Dr. Robin Patterson—Don Patterson Professor of Business Law;

• Dr. Sean Humpherys—T. Boone Pickens Professor of Business;

West Texas A&M University hosts an event every February to honor faculty and donors of endowed professorships and chairs.
