CANYON, Texas —Area Buffs can get free admission to root on the men’s and women’s basketball teams against Angelo State University at an upcoming event held by the West Texas A&M University Alumni Association.

The association’s Canyon/Amarillo chapter will host a happy hour at 5 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Buffalo Courts Alumni Center on WT’s Canyon campus. The women’s game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the First United Bank Center.

“The Canyon/Amarillo chapter continues to create meaningful opportunities for alumni to stay engaged, show their WT pride, and support our student-athletes,” said Ronnie Hall, executive director of the Alumni Association. “Events like this give our local alumni the opportunity to reconnect, strengthen relationships and celebrate the pride we all share in WT before cheering on the Lady Buffs and Buffs.”

Happy hour attendees each will get two tickets valid for both games; only WT alumni are eligible to claim tickets. Register at bit.ly/alum-night26. For information, call 806-651-2311.

Strengthening existing and creating new relationships with alumni is a key mission of the University’s long-range plan, WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World.

That plan is fueled by the historic One West comprehensive fundraising campaign, which reached its initial $125 million goal 18 months after publicly launching in September 2021. The campaign, which is now winding down, has raised more than $175 million.
