COB to Host Seminar on Post-Financial Crisis Issues

CANYON, Texas—The Department of Management, Marketing and General Business at West Texas A&M University will present a special seminar on the "post-financial crisis period" from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center, Legends Club.

Commentators and speakers for the seminar are Pat Ware, vice president of Amarillo National Bank, Gary Molberg, president of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Jim Owens, head of the WTAMU Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance and professor of finance, and Dr. Syed Tariq Anwar, professor of marketing and international business at WTAMU. The seminar is part of two classes: BUSI 3319 and MKT 4348.

The four speakers will talk to WTAMU students, faculty and local businesses about the changing global issues and the impact on the U.S. economy as well as Amarillo. The global financial crisis and its multifaceted issues are hot topics in the business world as well as the ongoing "G20  Summit" which is being held in South Korea. The first three seminars on this topic were presented in 2008-2009 when the financial crisis started.

According to Anwar, the 2010-2011 post-financial period is particularly important because of many unresolved issues in the business world. The next two years will continue to impact global businesses, governments and U.S. consumers. The seminar is planned and coordinated by Anwar and is free and open to WTAMU students, faculty and the business community.
