Message From the Director

Greetings and Welcome to the School of Music at West Texas A&M University. We take immense pride in our department, our esteemed faculty, and our talented students. With 28 dedicated faculty members and over 200 music majors, we foster a thriving community of musicians and music enthusiasts. Our students have the privilege of participating in exceptional performing ensembles that have garnered state, national and worldwide recognition. Alongside larger ensembles, students have access to a variety of smaller chamber ensembles, broadening their musical horizons. Our music faculty members are leaders in their respective fields, receiving accolades for their teaching and creative endeavors. Aside from engagments both nationally and internationally our faculty actively contribute locally to Amarillo's vibrant performing scene and serve as exemplary clinicians and adjudicators.

At WTAMU, we offer five undergraduate degree options in music, including composition, music education, music therapy, performance, and two options in music industry: one focused on business and the other on technology. Our graduate offerings include a master of arts degree in music (composition, thesis, or pedagogy) and a master of music degree in performance.

Our campus environment at West Texas A&M University is designed to nurture learning and foster excitement. We take pride in being small enough to ensure that students receive personalized instruction from experts in their fields. With regular interaction with faculty members both in and out of class, students thrive academically and artistically. Moreover, we are proud to be large enough to offer a plethora of performance opportunities, varied learning experiences, and an engaging college life.

As you explore our school and the array of resources we provide, feel free to contact me with any questions or inquiries. I look forward to connecting with you soon and discussing how the School of Music at WTAMU can be an integral part of your musical journey.
