Professional Profile

Mr. Lefevre joined the faculty of the West Texas A&M University School of Music in 1987. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas State University in 1979, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan in 1982. In 2008 and 2017, Lefevre received the Faculty Excellence Award from the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities, and was a recipient of the Faculty Teaching Excellence Award, presented annually to distinguished faculty by West Texas A&M University in 2003.

Teaching and Related Service

Mr. Lefevre is the Director of Bands at West Texas A&M University. He teaches classes in woodwinds and conducting to undergraduate students. Lefevre is a professor of graduate conducting and wind pedagogy classes. Under his direction, the WTAMU Symphonic Band has performed five times at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference. In 2012, the Symphonic Band was featured at the Southwest Regional Conference for the College Band Director’s National Association in San Antonio. In 2009, the Symphonic Band was invited to perform at the National Conference for the College Band Director’s National Association in Austin.the Symphonic Band made its second appearance at the 2017 National College Band Director’s National Association in Kansas City, Missouri. Lefevre will be conducting the 2021 ATSSB All-State Concert Band in Melissa, Texas. The WTAMU Symphonic Band was recently selected to perform at the 2023 National College Band Director’s National Association in Athens, Georgia..

Personal Sketch

Mr. Lefevre lives in Canyon with his wife Lee Ann who is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Amarillo, and their son Braden, who is a music major at West Texas A&M University.
