Professional Profile
Mr. Lefevre joined the faculty of the West Texas A&M University School of Music in 1987. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas State University in 1979, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan in 1982. In 2008 and 2017, he received the Faculty Excellence Award from the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities. Lefevre is a recipient of the University Instructional Excellence Award, presented annually to a distinguished faculty member by West Texas A&M University in 2003 and 2024. He is the 2023 recipient of the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Lefevre is a member of the American Bandmasters Association, the College Band Directors National Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Teaching and Related Service
Mr. Lefevre is the Director of Bands at West Texas A&M University. He teaches classes in woodwinds and conducting to undergraduate students. Lefevre is a professor of graduate conducting and wind pedagogy classes. Under his direction, the WTAMU Symphonic Band has performed six times at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference. In addition, the WTAMU Symphonic Band has performed at the National Conference for the College Band Director’s National Association in 2009, 2017 and 2023. Lefevre will be conducting the 2026 Texas Community College All-State Symphonic Band at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio.
Personal Sketch
Mr. Lefevre lives in Canyon with his wife Lee Ann who is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Amarillo. His son Braden completed a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree from WTAMU and is currently the Director of Bands at West Plains Junior High School in Amarillo.
