Professional Profile

Kim Bruce joined the mass communication faculty in 2007. Prior to her appointment, she worked in public relations with the University, small businesses and non-profit companies. Her experience includes more than seven years as the editor of the West Texan, the University’s alumni magazine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism at WTAMU in 1994 and her master’s degree in speech communication at WTAMU in 2001.

Teaching and Related Service

Bruce teaches journalism and public relations courses including Introduction to Journalism, Public Relations Copywriting, Public Relations/Publicity, Public Relations Campaigns and Desktop Publishing. She also serves as the adviser of the Eternal Flame, the University’s photo book.
 
She is the editor of the West Texan, WTAMU’s alumni magazine. She has also served as an event planner, writer and project director for area organizations and businesses.

Research and Creative Activity

Her research interests include effective public relations for small businesses and active learning strategies as applied in the college classroom.
