Student Life

Students can take advantage of both local and national connections for exciting internship opportunities.  Media students have access to our award-winning broadcasting facilities and internship connection through the National Association of Broadcasters.

Most of our classes are small, seminar-style classes.  We have online and hybrid course offerings as needed.  Study-abroad opportunities also are available through the Department of Communication and other participating programs.

Our students projects are as diverse as the students themselves.  Nearly 20 percent of our students are international students.  We have a good mix of full-time and part-time students bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge and curiosity to the program.

But sometimes you need a break...

Deciding to continue your education with a Master's degree in Communication can be a time consuming journey. But here at WT, we provide students with many options to take a study break. In addition to the numerous campus wide organizations and events, our students are able to wake up with some fresh coffee at The Palace, enjoy some fresh air hiking in Palo Duro Canyon, swim/work out in the Virgil Henson Activity Center (VHAC), shop for local bargains on The Square, or finish the day unwinding at Buffaloes, the local sports bar. These are just a few of the opportunities Canyon offers West Texas A&M University students.

Looking to get away? Canyon is 4-5 hours from any metropolis, including, Dallas, Denver and Albuquerque.
