CANYON, Texas—U.S. News & World Report has released its 2016 Best Online Programs, and West Texas A&M University’s undergraduate programs and graduate business programs earned multiple recognitions in the coveted rankings.

The U.S. News & World Report announced its 2016 Best Online Programs Tuesday, Jan. 12 as a resource for students seeking information about online programs for degree completion and career advancement. Only degree-granting programs were considered for the 2016 list, and rankings were based on student engagement, faculty credentials, student services and technology, admissions selectivity and peer reputation. Adding to a top 20 ranking for the graduate business program in 2015 and 2016, West Texas A&M University also earned a top 20 ranking for undergraduate programs in 2016.

Online Bachelor’s Program: WTAMU’s online undergraduate programs are 11th overall in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2016. A total of 300 institutions with online bachelor’s programs were considered for the 2016 rankings. New bachelor of business administration program offerings in management, marketing and law and economics combined with continuing programs in nursing, criminal justice, general business and emergency management administration highlight WTAMU’s undergraduate programs that were part of the review. West Texas A&M University earned the highest ranking in the state of Texas. Seven Texas institutions placed in the top 100 for 2016, but WTAMU is the only one to earn a spot in the top 30.

Online Graduate Business Program (Specialized non-MBA): WTAMU’s online graduate business program ranks 12th overall by U.S. News and World Report for 2016. A total of 130 specialized online graduate business programs were considered for the 2016 rankings. The Master of Science in Finance and Economics (MSFE) degree is the specialized graduate business program highlighted by reviewers. This is the second consecutive year the MSFE program has earned a top 20 twenty ranking from U.S. News & World Report. In addition, the MSFE was ranked No. 5 in The Financial Engineer’s 2016 Financial Economics Rankings of economics and finance graduate programs.

Online Graduate M.B.A. Program: The University’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is listed at number 36 overall in the 2016 rankings. A total of 228 M.B.A. programs were considered for the 2016 rankings. This is the fourth consecutive year the M.B.A. program at WTAMU has placed in the top 40. The M.B.A. program also was recognized this fall by U.S. News & World Report with a ranking of seventh in the nation for affordability. Current enrollment in the M.B.A. program includes students from 47 different states and 29 different countries.
