College of Business Announces Professorships

CANYON, Texas—The College of Business at West Texas A&M University has announced two professorships—one in computer information systems and one in marketing.

Dr. Musa Jafar, assistant professor of computer information systems, is the Gensler Professor of Computer Information Systems. Jafar, who joined the WTAMU faculty in 2004, earned his doctorate degree from the University of Arizona in 1989. His primary teaching areas are software development and object oriented design. The Gensler Professorship was established in 2007 by friends and former students of Dr. Phil Gensler, professor emeritus of computer information systems, in honor of his 20 years of professional leadership and dedication to students.

Dr. De’Arno De’Armond, assistant professor of management and marketing, is the Hickman Professor of Marketing. De’Armond, who joined the WTAMU faculty in 2003, earned both his B.B.A. and M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University and completed his Ph.D. at Texas Tech University in 2008. He teaches courses in advertising, marketing research, sales management, risk management and financial planning. The Hickman Professorship was established in 2008 by Happy State Bank to mark its milestone 100th anniversary and to honor J. Pat Hickman who serves as its chairman and CEO.

The announcement of the two professorships brings the total to six professorships in the College of Business. Professorships support the University’s mission of creating centers of excellence to meet the growing needs of programs at WTAMU. Faculty members named to professorships offer WTAMU students the best in academics to make WTAMU a first-choice institution.
