University’s AMA Chapter to Host Marketing Seminar on Marketing Cities

CANYON, Texas—West Texas A&M University’s collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association has organized a special seminar titled, "Marketing Cities and Creating New Ventures: Opportunities and Strategies" from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 in the Classroom Center, Room 335 on campus.

The seminar topic will focus on how to market cities as well as creating and developing new ventures aimed at business opportunities and economic growth. The featured guest speakers will be Gary Molberg, president and CEO of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, and William Ware, executive vice president of Amarillo National Bank and co-developer of Dubs Development, LLC.

According to Dr. Syed Tariq Anwar, WTAMU professor of marketing and international business, in global business as well as in the United States, cities have played a major role in economic development and growth. Because of today’s changing business models, emerging service industries and online-related opportunities, cities aggressively capitalize on these growth and expansion areas worldwide.

This is another informative seminar planned and sponsored by WTAMU’s Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association. From its inception in 2014, the AMA chapter has been one of the first-movers at the University regarding organizing special lectures and seminars. These programs also have helped WTAMU’s marketing and business majors to be familiar with today’s trends, opportunities and growth areas.

The seminar is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Anwar, co-chapter adviser and at 806-651-2491 or Turkan Kilic, chapter adviser and associate professor of marketing at 806-651-2506.
